Some of my best work in local news with KCTV in Kansas City and KMOV in St. Louis. Clips are in no particular chronological order, but they include:
“The Lunch Crowd” – An Emmy-winning story about a business focused on feeding its community
“She’s Got Grit” – A middle school girl defies odds and expectations
“Apple Butter” – A digital feature I shot for the KMOV Website
“Popcorn-Worthy Stories” – A project I put together as a teaching tool for young videographers
There are also many more clips that feature a variety of day-turn clips, creative standups and techniques I’ve used for local news stories.
Teaching Tools
I made this video at home as part of a storytelling workshop I put together for KMOV. This fun clip talks about shooting and editing mechanics for improving visual storytelling.
Apple Butter (Digital Feature)
I produced this story about a family event celebrating veterans for the KMOV website back in the fall. It was picked up nationally by our parent company, Gray Television and posted to station websites in dozens of markets.
Rural Asthma Care
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A new program launching in rural communities helps bring technology and support to kids dealing with asthma.
It’s a statewide pilot called ALPACAH, short for At Last, Pediatric Asthma Care at Home.
The 18-month study will sign up families at more than a dozen providers in rural Missouri, holding clinics with pulmonologists and respiratory therapists and connecting families to telehealth providers and take-home monitoring equipment.
On Friday, a clinic at the Great Mines Health Center in Potosi brought in families like Kayla Boyer’s. Her 15-year-old daughter, Neveah, and 9-year-old son, Waylon, had both struggled with difficulties at times.
